Keep your camera rolling for your documentary or interview for up to 125 minutes in 4K UHD/60p, or up to 90 minutes in 8K UHD/30p. Take a leap into video realism by creating in-camera 8K HDR time-lapse videos and view them in hi-definition with HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) monitors. Timecode Sync.
Lay out your shots from multiple devices in chronological order easily. Sync your timecode with multiple devices over Bluetooth using UltraSync Blue. Free yourself from cables and start shooting from creative angles.

Never miss a moment, even when capturing subjects moving at high speed. Pre-release capture records images up to 1 second before the shutter button is fully pressed, and up to 4 seconds after the shutter button is fully pressed. Unleash your potential, whether photographing in a race event or chasing after erratic wildlife.
Lock in focus easily, even during low-light conditions.
Capture the magnificent glow of the golden hour. Even under low light situations, its wide AF detection range of -7 to 19 EV (-9 to 19 EV in starlight view mode)1 allows you to lock focus on moving subjects to keep your scenes sharp and clear. With 20 custom AF pattern options in wide-area AF to choose from, you can lock focus continuously on your subject in any situation.
3D tracking for stills.
Experience the powerful AF tracking performance powered by the EXPEED 7 image-processing engine. Its 3D-tracking capabilities provide effective sticky tracking on multiple subjects in a single frame, helping you get your intended shot even with erratic movements.
New Airplane mode.
Meet the airplane mode, the newly added option on the AF subject detection menu that provides a more stable detection, even when you shoot in low light situations or against a busy background. Focus easily on the airplane you are after, regardless of its size.
Clear. Vivid. Bright.
Stabilise your images and videos and take clearer shots. The in-camera VR and Synchro VR can work together to achieve up to 6 stops of VR effect for stills, helping you get sharper images easily. For sharper and clearer videos, simply activate the EVR on top of the in-camera VR. Trapezoidal distortion can then be compensated to minimise camera shake, resulting in crystal clear shots.

The Z 8 comes with an extra tough, strong, sturdy exterior. It is built with a new environmentally friendly material that is robust and can withstand temperatures up to -10°C, with effective sealing to each cover such as the battery chamber and shutter release button, to make it dust- and drip-resistant. The sensor shield and the dual coating on the image sensor will prevent dust from entering and sticking to the sensor. The Vibration Reduction lock minimises shakes on the image sensor structure, and thus prevents accidental damage. Enjoy greater peace of mind when you carry your camera along a bumpy drive.
